Job Description

Job DescriptionThis a crucial role that will assist in overseeing general accounting operations. The Accounting Manager will play an integral role in the Finance team to assist Exponential to meet operational and reporting requirements. In addition, the position will be a key resource supporting the Corporate Controller on special projects, technical accounting, external audit, international accounts and continued automation of Company processes, including further deployment and enhancement of the Great Plains accounting system.


Responsibilities:

- Assist in daily general ledger operations for the majority of financial statement processes

- Manage the US GL team and work collaboratively with other finance members globally

- Manage month-end and year-end accounting close, including consolidation

- Review work submitted by accountants and manage worldwide accounting close processes

- Perform analysis on company’s financial and accounting metrics

- Review balance sheet accounts and analyze account activities, investigate, and resolve necessary items

- Manage internal and external financial reporting activities to ensure that accurate and timely information is available to senior management for decision-making

- Assist in managing the external audit of the Company’s financial statements including the preparation of the financial statements

- Spearhead the evaluation and adoption of accounting standard updates, including maintaining relevant accounting policies

- Perform special, ad-hoc projects in Accounting as requested

- Assist with maintenance of corporate fiscal records

- Assist in implementation and documentation internal controls, processes and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information

- Assist in managing the continued deployment of the Great Plains accounting system, including expanding current functionality and ease of use

- Assist in managing the set-up and formation of systems and processes for international subsidiaries and transactions with foreign subsidiaries.





Required Skills

- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting, including technical accounting memorandum, revenue recognition and FX hedging a plus

- Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment with multiple and changing priorities while establishing and meeting deadlines reflecting a fast-moving environment

- Expert proficiency with Excel

- Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to succeed in collaborative, team-based organization, with strong relationship building skills while working autonomously and pro-actively

- Strong people and manager skills with the ability to roll up the sleeves and be hands on as needed

- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objective and deadlines

- Accounting research and problem-solving skills required

- Ability to operate independently and as part of a larger functional team

- Experience in implementing new accounting pronouncements and guidance





Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution

- 4+ years experience

- Public accounting experience a plus

- Active CPA preferred

- Experience in international operations and tax preferred

- Ideally, the person will have high-tech industry experience, preferably in online media, advertising, Internet e-commerce or software
